MDS responds to serious needs in wake of Hurricane Helene
¨The Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) is a volunteer network through which various groups within the Anabaptist tradition assist people affected by disasters in North America. [3] The organization was founded in 1950 and was incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization in 1993.¨
Thank you for this information we can trust. Though I too, am looking for housing in this low inventory, hyper-inflated market. I know, "God will supply ALL our needs according to His Riches in Glory in Christ Jesus." I can't let myself get thinner, but CAN eat peanut butter and jelly, and beans and rice to assure these people survive. I send my prayers from my heart to that of my always faithful Father first and foremost, and secondly, my food allowance to these dear and precious-in-His-sight survivors. "Some gave all. All can give some."
Dr. Furey, once again thank you for yourselfless service for the vulnerable and forgotten among us. I have deep roots in Appalachia and my dearest sainted friend Bob gave many years of faithful work to folks across this land through Samaritan’s Purse Ministries. Thank you for helping coordinate the compassionate relief efforts of Chaplain Macias’ rescue effort with the help of our veterans. God help us all, especially the people in the beautiful foothills in desperate need of our prayers and help. Father, send your Holy Spirit into these places, giving comfort, physical healing, shelter, food, knowledge that you hold them in the palm of your hand, despite outward appearances. Send those of us who are called into service as well. Comfort, comfort your people O Lord. In the name of Jesus, the Pascal Lamb, your son, our Lord, Amen.
Your donation can make a direct and significant impact on disaster-stricken communities by ensuring that SRP and our team of First Responders have the resources we need to provide Emergency Services for those that don't have insurance coverage or funding available, everything from Food, Water, Temporary Power, Satellite Communications, Roof StormWrap, Moisture Mapping, Water Extraction, Specialized Drying, Private Medics, Security, Environmental Consultants and Contents Restoration in communities following these unforeseen disasters.
1. Immediate Emergency Response
SRP's Team consists of paramedics, firefighters, and rescue teams are on the front lines, often the first to arrive at disaster-stricken areas. Donations help ensure they have the equipment, fuel, and resources needed to rescue people, provide medical aid, and offer immediate assistance in the aftermath of the hurricane.
2. Life-Saving Efforts
SRP's First responders are trained to perform life-saving tasks, including search and rescue operations, emergency medical services, and evacuations. Your donation can support critical tools like medical supplies, boats, drones, and protective gear that enhance their ability to save lives in dangerous conditions.
3. Supporting Exhausted Infrastructure
In the wake of a major hurricane like Helene, local infrastructure—such as hospitals, transportation, and communication systems—can be overwhelmed or completely destroyed. Donations help fill these gaps, providing backup systems, mobile medical units, and temporary shelters.
4. Restoration of Essential Services
First responders often assist in restoring essential services such as electricity, water, and telecommunications. Your donation can help fund the necessary equipment and manpower to rebuild and restore these services faster, allowing communities to recover more quickly.
5. Long-Term Recovery Efforts
Donations help sustain first responder teams as they transition from emergency relief to long-term recovery operations. This includes clearing debris, rebuilding homes, and helping communities return to normalcy, which can take months or even years after a hurricane.
Overall, your donation can make a direct and significant impact on disaster-stricken communities by ensuring that SRP and its team of First Responders have the resources they need to perform their heroic work...
