Dear Friends,
A flash of light caught the helicopter pilot’s eye. The pilot had made multiple trips delivering supplies to those in need. He saw the miles upon miles of destruction. He moved closer to investigate. A man was desperately flashing a mirror, running back and forth in an open expanse of land that was barely visible from a distance. The pilot circles closer and after six attempts was able to land. The pilot was able to deliver a chainsaw, Epipens, insulin, food, formula, and gas. The relief of these trapped families is palpable. No power, no food, no necessary medical supplies. A light in the darkness, a flash of light, brought life saving services.
This family could be you and your family. This family is our neighbor. Hurricane Helene remains a nightmare for many of our neighbors. North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and West Virginia were all effected by this storm.
Our North Carolina neighbors are suffering and we are called to help. Thousands and thousands have lost their homes and businesses. The number of lives lost continues to rise. Each of us understands at a fundamental level that the government is not going to help. It is neighbors helping neighbors. It is veterans helping veterans. It is the good men and women of this country helping those in need as we have done since the founding of our nation.
Currently, people from across this nation and in particular our veterans are packing trucks with supplies and shipping them into areas of need. They are working with the frontline workers ensuring the supplies go to the people. They need your help. They need money for fuel to get the supplies to North Carolina or other designated sites or to purchase supplies. The drivers and the trucks are all donated. What do they need? Money for fuel and necessary supplies.
I am asking that each of you begin by praying for those who have died, their families and for those suffering from overwhelming loss. May God protect and comfort them. May they know that people are trying to reach them. May the first responders and healthcare workers find those in need and rescue them. May we as a nation know that we are guided not by the voice of man but by the power of God. As the men and women on the ground, plot their rescue missions, may God provide them with discernment. May He give them strength, courage and fortitude. May we each be a lion roaring that the Almighty Power of God will restore the people and their land. This catastrophic event is not the end. This is the beginning of a nation rebuilding on a foundation of truth and integrity, the bedrock of our nation.
We are and will remain ONE NATION UNDER GOD INDIVISIBLE.
Money is needed. Please donate whatever you can to https://donorbox.org/oy6-relief. This effort is coordinated by veteran, Chaplain Joshua Macias, a man of courage, with an established track record of supporting our homeless veterans and veterans in need and their families. I am honored to call him a friend. He is leading a group of veterans and pastors who are working hand-in-hand to ensure the people who need support are receiving it. The goal is $1,000,000. This is a mighty goal but, I know the power of a viral post. Help make this post go viral, by sharing and re-sharing on all platforms. Please donate whatever you are able. Many have lost everything. EVERYTHING. You may imagine if your house is destroyed, you would rebuild. But what if the land upon which your house stood is simply gone, washed away. How do you begin to rebuild?
If each of you donates $100 or $50 or even $10 and shares the link and someone else donates $100, $50 or $10, very quickly, we will reach $1,000,000. I know many of you may have already given to other organizations. I am deeply grateful that you have, but if you have the power to donate again, I am asking that you donate one more time.
Chaplain Joshua Macias is the Executive Director of OY6 Foundation and the Director of the Hurricane Helene Give Cover Recover multi-state coordinated Air and Land emergency supply management. All efforts are Veteran led, alongside the Vets First Transportation Association. You may also donate at Virginia Christian Alliance. All money donated to Virginia Christian Alliance will go to Helene Relief. All donations are tax deductible as a 501c3 organization.
Do not delay. Donate now. The troops are on the ground and ready to roll. They need fuel to keep them rolling. Your donation will make a difference. Your ongoing prayers will make a difference. Please give generously and thank you for all that you have done and will continue to do as we support our neighbors in need.
With sincere gratitude,
Sheila M. Furey, MD
