Dr. James Kelly is a multiple Board Certified Adult, Child, Adolescent, Family, and Forensic Psychiatrist with over 40 years experience working in hospitals, jails, clinics, and his private practice. He is a graduate of The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school, he completed 3 postdoctoral university hospital residency programs—Internal Medicine(Maryland), Psychiatry (Georgetown) and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Johns Hopkins). He has given expert testimony to many state legislatures and medical associations on life and death issues. In the midst of often challenging discussions, he is able to add warmth and kindness with his gentle sense of humor.
Dr. Crisanna Shackelford, retired Department of Defense (DOD) with over 32 years of service (Navy and DOD) has written and discussed the critical link between health crises and national security. She has dedicated her career to national security, intelligence, warfare, strategic planning, and public policy. Following her ‘coerced’ retirement from DOD due to her staunch ethical and scientific opposition to its COVID policies, and armed with a deep understanding of the inner workings of the DOD, she seamlessly transitioned to alert the public to recognize and look beyond the propaganda. Kathi Joann Hudgins is a retired ICU nurse manager with decades of critical care experience. At Norfolk General, she worked closely with Dr. Paul Marik, helping implement evidence-based treatments for critically ill patients, including those with sepsis and COVID-19. Her clinical expertise and dedication contributed to exceptional patient outcomes. Beyond her nursing career, Kathi has been married for 51 years, raised four children, and enjoys nine grandchildren. Her life reflects a legacy of service, compassion, and leadership, with an impact that extends far beyond the hospital.
Dr. Kelly, Dr. Shackelford and Kathi Hudgins will have a round table discussion about the patient-healthcare interface. They will discuss the challenges of navigating and advocating for self and family within the complex healthcare system.
